Mothers of Toddlers

Mom, don’t tell me no.

Mom, stop being mean to me.

Mom, you’re supposed to be nice.

Mom, you need to say yes.

Does anyone else have a toddler and feel like they hear the phrases above about a million times a day? Always with a whine, always after they have asked for something they don’t need or shouldn’t have, and always when you are already close to your limit of patience.

And then, out of nowhere, that same little man climbs up into the chair next to you and with all sincerity says,

Mom, you’re the best.

And your heart melts, and you tell him he’s the best, and all the grief, frustration, and eye rolling is worth it for that moment of pure love.
