Perceptive Perspective – Parenthood

One of the best parts of being the parent of an 8 year old is watching their sense of humor develop. Yesterday’s conversation went something like this:

Malia: Mom! I just sneezed so hard my head blew right off!

Me: Wow! That’s crazy! Can I take a picture of you with your missing head so we can remember what you looked like before we take you to the hospital to get it sewn back on?

Malia: Sure, but make sure you can’t see my hair in my shirt.

Me: OK

*Snap*

Malia: *pulling shirt back down* Look, I’m OK.

Me: Oh good. I was worried we would have a little girl without a head forever.

Malia: Can I see the picture?

Me: Sure.

Malia: You can see my hair. Do you want another picture instead?
